A ROM duvet or pillow – provides maximum comfort and hygiene -100% natural products that will last for years.
You can, at any time you deem it necessary, call on our unique after-sales service for ROM duvets. This special maintenance, provided by our workshops in Eupen for over 60 years, has nothing in common with machine washing or dry cleaning a duvet. The types of cleaning, commonly recommended, are suitable for medium-quality duvets. For higher qualities, they are strongly discouraged: the risk of permanently damaging the duvet is high: the drying out of the fibres will lead to a reduction in the duvet’s loft and insulating power. On the other hand, the down thus dried out will quickly disintegrate into dust in the duvet…
What does regeneration and cleaning consist of in our workshops?
In our manufacturing workshops, the cotton percale containing the duvet is emptied of its contents and it is perfectly dusted. The down is sorted, any waste (fibers that have detached from the core of the down) is eliminated and can – if you wish – be replaced with new down. The down is then washed, in suspension, with steam and organic soap. The gradual drying is also done in suspension and in movement. Then follows an anti-bacterial treatment with ultraviolet rays without any use of chemicals. This treatment guarantees a perfectly hygienic sleep again even many years after purchase. A selector separates the feathers from the down, as well as the lost fibers from the down in good condition.
This entire process is guided automatically. This is a process specific to each quality of down that can only be done by a specialist. The down regains its initial loft and hygiene while retaining its natural purity.
We can also replace and transform the percales or readapt the quilting system to your needs.
The silky-feel percales used for all our “à la carte” duvets are made of 100% cotton, certified by the independent Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label level 6, further: GOTS 6.0, Naturtextil IVN “Best 6.1” + BCI -better cotton initiative. Origins: BE, DE. These percales do not hinder the excellent air conditioning provided by the duvets.
The numerous patented quilting systems (by semi-open compartments), while preventing the duvet from “slipping”, also allow the specialized maintenance mentioned above without having to cut into the fabric, and thus compromise its waterproofness…
…or even the modification of the filling after purchase according to your requirements.
People suffering from a dust mite allergy are often advised to choose synthetic fiber duvets (due to frequent washing). However, there is no link between this allergy and the use of good quality natural materials for bedding*.
Contrary to popular belief, dust mites do not feed on these natural materials. Quite the opposite: good moisture wicking and good air circulation significantly reduce the risk of aeroallergens such as dust mites and mould in your natural bedding.
All the very fine percales we use are very high-density weaves that prevent dust mites from entering the duvet and the down fibres from coming out. We also sell anti-mite mattress covers in the same material.
this does not mean that we recommend feathers or down to all allergy sufferers. There are also allergies to these natural materials themselves – but this is very rare.
The choice of a duvet should always be made individually with professional advice in our store. To test whether you are really allergic to high-quality down or feathers – you can try a ROM goose feather pillow without directly investing in a duvet.
